Hi Corinne, my daughter is 18 months old and I fly frequently with her. My family is in California so I take her there regularly. We’ve flown all different times of day/night and I can’t even get her to sleep. I’ve learned it’s not worth fighting her or it’s miserable for all of us. We’ve taken the red eye and she stays awake the entire time! Typically she’s happy but it’s exhausting on a 6 hour flight where most are sleeping. Any thoughts on how to get her to sleep? I want to continue to travel with her as often as we can! :) thanks!

Eek--that is tough. My guys would never sleep on planes either, or they would doze off just as we were landing and be a real treat to wake up. In your situation I would probably try to avoid red eyes if possible, so at least you wouldn't also be shattered from a sleepless night. I imagine you have tried just about everything, but this article might give you some ideas: http://havebabywilltravel.com/2011/10/22/traveling-with-a-toddler-how-to-help-them-sleep-on-a-plane/ Good luck! |
My baby is still napping twice a day. Is there any point to going on vacation?

We are traveling to Hawaii for the holidays (5 hour time change from EST) with our baby girl over the holidays. Any strategies for the long flight or specific things you'd recommend bringing? In terms of adjusting to a time change, any way to improve our chances of having a somewhat rested /sleeping baby for the holiday? We are stopping in CA for two nights, so hopefully she will have a gradual adjustment. Thanks!

Hi Corinne. Do you have any recommendations for family-friendly getaways on the east coast? We are looking to make a few long weekend trips with our 2 children (2 and 4.5) and would love to explore some new cities that are kid friendly. Thank you.
