8 Month Old Not Sleeping
HEBBA , PARENT OF 3 YEAR OLD

My 8 month old is not sleeping through the night. She gets up numerous times during the night especially when she drops her pacifier. When she wakes up she rolls over onto her stomach and starts to scream. She has had numerous ear infections so she has not had a consistent sleep schedule and setting. We have tried white noise, pushing the crib next to my side of the bed, putting her in the crib partially awake, putting her into the bed completely asleep, feeding her propped on a pillow in her crib and so forth. When she cries, I put her pacifier back in her mouth. If she gets super fussy I try to comfort her. If she is inconsolable I will pick her up and calm her down and put her back in her crib. When it gets to be too much I put her in the bed next to us. Our bedtime routine is changing (diaper/pajamas) and a bottle.

Hi Hebba! Have the ear infections cleared up? If she is healthy now (check with her pediatrician first) it is time to sleep train. All of the things you describe are signs that she doesn't know how to self-soothe which prevents her from going back to sleep once she wakes up.

My 8 month old is refusing to sleep in her crib. She has had numerous ear infections and so there hasn't been much consistency with her sleep. When she gets ear infections she can't sleep flat because it hurts her ears too much. I do not want to do the cry it out method but would like help in getting her to sleep through the night in her crib.
