Hi!! I have an 18 month old who still does not sleep thru the night and also cannot put himself to sleep. I have tried sleep training but he throws up after a few mins of crying. I am at my wits end. my husband thinks he throws up on purpose? I am not sure if he is or not....is it too late to do something.

Hi Shelley! No it’s certainly not too late but it sounds like you need some specific help and support. When kids are beyond 12 months old and have already experienced some failed attempts at sleep training, it’s a little bit harder to get them to where you want them to be, but it’s by no means impossible. Check out the sleep plans/packages options and let me know if that is something you would be interested in, I’d love to help you! |
As of yesterday my 5.5 month old baby boy can roll over BOTH back to front and front the back. Tonight he also, without realizing, fell asleep on his belly. is that safe? He seems to be so comfy and he has turned his head from one side to the other so i know he can do it. Even when i start or reset him in his back, there he goes. Belly....

Good morning! This is awesome Megha! Keep putting him down on his back, it’s recommended by the AAP, but there’s no need to flip him back over if he rolls on his stomach. You’d likely wind up flipping him back all night 😉 |
Hi there! I have a 7 week old baby girl! I want to teach her how to self-soothe to sleep but not sure if i have to wait till she is older since learning to self-soothe means sleeping 10-12 hrs at night. Doesn’t a baby her age need to eat more often! Also I want this because i know is the best option for my babies development, but any encouring advise u have to start? since i know its gonna be very hard on me. I say this because i hate when she cries and tend ti give in! Thanks you

Hi Johana! Teaching self-soothing doesn't mean that she will go straight to sleep for 10-12 hours. At this point it is most important to set a good foundation and give her the opportunity to practice self-soothing- formal sleep training shouldn't be done until a baby is at least four months old and yes, she will likely still need to eat a few times during the night. |

Hi again! If you are talking about full extinction then there is no limit on the time, so however long you child will cry is how long you will leave her be. But again, this is it recommended for babies under 4 months old. There really is no standard time, as all kids are different. If the total time of the sleep training effort is limited- and when doing it right it shouldn’t be weeks on end but only a few days until it clicks- and the child is lovingly cared for during her waking hours- then the crying is not harmful. |
