My 7 month old sleep at day time and up at night

Hello Linda, |
Hi there!
I have a 20 month old son who has never been a great sleeper (he has some serious FOMO). He's always required us to pat him to sleep or bounce. He's a super light sleeper even with the sound machine so we have to be very quiet. His little sister is due in 3 weeks and we need to change some things up. He was doing fine with us sitting beside his crib until he fell asleep. Then he needed to be parted to sleep and now he needs held and bounced which is very hard on my pregnant belly! We used to bounce him for months and months until I finally weaned him at 15 months and had him sleep in a pack n play in our room. He's in his own room from 8-1am and then I usually bring him to our bed then which is going to be an issue with a crying newborn. I want him to fall sleep independently and through the night without our assistance. We've done the CIO method (which was awful) and the Ferber method which also didn't work because he would scream harder every time I left so sitting beside him has been the best method so far. I just want him to be on a good schedule so I can focus on one baby's sleep at a time! My husband works evenings so bedtime is up to me.
His schedule usually is
7:30-8pm bed
12-1am wakes up comes in bed with us (or just me usually)
7-8am wakeup
11-12 nap (*maybe*)
Thank you!!

Hi Rada, |

Rada we have to take him out of the crib. To carry him, when he falls a sleep, we put him back. |

Schedule sounds good. The frequent night wake ups can be addressed with sleep training. You will respond to him less frequently and consistently at night. |

Let me know which one you are drawn to. Then we can talk about methods |

Rada pick up/ pt down method sounds good |

Hey Rada, that method is best suited for babies under 5 months old. Do you want to look at the options again? |

Could you choose from the no checks, timed checks/graduated Extinction, or chair method? |

Rada Than timed checks |

Hi Rada, to help me figure out the time intervals, custom for your family:. What is the longest you have left him crying in one episode before (think car seat, stuck in traffic). Then: how many minutes (greater than 10 mins would you be comfortable starting the timed checks at)? **The more time and space you can give a child, the quicker they can learn to self soothe. We want to pick times that are not so close together that the checks themselves, are interruptive to the child's learning. |

How does 15 minutes sound as the beginning amount of time to wait? |
