Offer a nap every 45-60 mins for a 6 week old. I love the happiest baby on the block DVD for soothing and swaddling tips |

Hi Brittany, |

Brittany I have been putting him down for his first nap in the doc a tot in his crib. Sometimes he sleeps for 30 minutes, today he’s almost sleeping for two hours. It sounds like I’m on the right track. Should he be sleeping in his room by himself at night? Right now he’s still next to us because I’m breastfeeding and he usually feeds once in the night! |

I would transition him to the crib more frequently, and then at night too. When baby and mother are next to each other--both get less sleep (over 8 weeks old). |

Brittany Thank you! |

Will you check the manufacturer of the doc a tot's website? I don't believe they recommend it for crib use (only for cosleeping). I the crib you want only fitted sheets, no blankets, and no stuffed animals. Nothing the baby can suffocate against . |

Brittany I will, thank you! I thought using that first in the crib would help him transition to the bigger crib space since he’s used to being confined in the rock and play . I also watch him when he naps on the monitor continuously. I wouldn’t use it overnight! I’m on the room now as we speak! |
My daughter is 6 weeks old I have her in a bassinet and I notice she only sleeps 3 hours at a time and wakes up for sure at 4am unless I put her skin to skin am I ok or am I doing something wrong....

Leticia - you are doing great! Around 8 weeks night sleep will organize. This will give you one predictable 4 hour stretch of sleep beginning at bedtime. 7-10 pm bedtime start time. |

Leticia Yes they are i changed that today after seeing a video about a mom accidentally smothering baby.... |

Thank you! |
So my son isn't technically a baby anymore, he just turned one, so if this question doesn't work dont worry! We've been able to put him asleep awake since he was about 6 months and he does great, naps and nighttime. Lately though, he wakes up screaming at least once, most of the time twice a night. He's hard to console, pointing towards the door to leave. I can calm him down if I hold him for a bit, but Im afraid I'm starting a terrible habit.

How do you console him back to sleep-what do you do? How long does it take? |

Caitlin he wants to leave the room when he points at the door, the first few times my husband took him downstairs and he was stopped crying and played but obviously that's not a good idea. I've tried to just rub his back but he's too worked up to lay down, so usually I just hold him and eventually he cries it out and falls asleep with me and i can get him back in his crib, sometimes he wakes up then, but he's calm enough to rub his back to go bakc to sleep. the whole thing usually takes an hour. He was never sleep trained because he went down so easily for us, we literally just put him in bed and he goes to sleep. |

Which sleep training method would you be interested in learning more about? Timed checks, no checks, or chair method? |
