Sports toys
SHEFALI, PARENT OF 4 YEAR OLD

My son is really into sports ( different balls, throwing, kicking) we got him a basketball hoop and we've signed him up for "soccer practice". He's only 18 months but what kinds of toys could keep him busy for at least the next year? We don't have a backyard but have room in our basement. My husband and I are not really into sports 😁

Hi Shefali,

It’s fun when little ones start showing an interest in an activity! The following suggestions are great for developing gross motor skills and engaging small toddlers in sports like activities.

1. Soccer Ball Set

I love Tonka as well! I would also add Dickie Toys, Driven and LEGO DUPLO.

For baby doll cribs:

KidKraft makes a cute, classic looking cradle:

This ‘pack-in-play’ type crib is different and fun:

Toys for language dev?
FERNANDA

I love reading to my one-year-old daughter before bedtime! I've been looking for some other tools to promote her language development. Are there any toys out there that could possibly help?

Natalie
NATALIE

Hi Fernanda,

The best ways to promote language development are books, singing songs, and good ol’ social play and interaction with your baby!

Having a variety of types of books can keep your little one engage longer. So books with a story, books with texture, books with only pictures and even books that you can add your own photos to with pics of family and your daughter!

https://www.amazon.com/First-100-Board-Book-books/dp/0312521065/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1515602772&sr=8-2&keywords=first+100+word

https://www.amazon.com/Thats-Kitten-Usborne-Touchy-Feely/dp/0746071485/ref=sr_1_sc_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1515602817&sr=1-3-spell&keywords=usborn+touchy

https://www.amazon.com/Babys-First-Photo-Family-Friends/dp/B000Q7G3VM/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1515602890&sr=8-6&keywords=photo+album+for+baby

And toys that play music can also be educational. One that is interactive and plays a large variety of songs is the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Puppy.

Storing Legos??
LONNIE

My little one loves his Legos, but they make quite a mess in our playroom. Stepping on them is also no fun!! Any tips?

ELISA

The LEGO Storage Brick 8 does a great job

I second the Brick 8 storage for legos.

I also love these Swoop Bags for keeping legos contained and all in one place. Plus is makes for a fun playmat!
