Car seat for occasional use
NOELLE, PARENT OF 8 YEAR OLD, 6 YEAR OLD, 2 YEAR OLD

Hi! I am looking to order a car seat for our infant to keep at my parents house at the beach for when we visit. We will only use it once or twice a year so I’d like to get a convertible seat to get baby through the next 5 years or so. Any recommendations for something that would work well in this situation that is safe and reasonably priced? Thanks?

Hi Noelle,

A great car seat option that is safe and will last you for many years to come is the Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat.

Graco is a very trusted brand and this car seat will last you a long time while it’s also budget friendly.

It can be used up to 65 lbs and has a 10-postion head rest to accommodate a growing child. It also has an easy installation which would come in handy during your visits.

Another even more budget-friendly option is the Safety 1st Guide 65. This car seat is narrower so if you have more than one child in a car seat, it will likely fit more easily in the back seat. The Safety 1st also has an adjustable head rest and can be used forward facing up to 65 lbs.

BundleMe
AMANDA, PARENT OF 3 YEAR OLD, 3 YEAR OLD

Is it safe to have the BundleMe in the car seat while driving? Does it interfere with the safety of the seat?

Hi Amanda,

That’s a great question! Nothing should go down inside a car seat, including any bunting or even puffy coats while it's being used in a car. The reason for this is that anything additional within a car seat can interfere with it's functionality and safety. Not only are car seats not crash tested with bunting, they are not approved by manufactures to be used while driving in a car. This is because any additional materials within the car seat will compress during a crash, making the straps too loose.

That being said, if you are not in the car, it is ok to use a BundleMe or coat on your child. For car rides, here are some alternative products that are safe to use.

Infant Car Seat Covers (only go around the car seat, not inside):

A fleece jacket is safer than a puffy coat or a One Kid Coat:

Inexpensive stroller for travel
EMILY, PARENT OF 7 YEAR OLD, 4 YEAR OLD

Hi Natalie. Can you recommend a very inexpensive and small stroller I can use to get my 2 year old through the airport? We just need something only for this purpose! Thank you.

Natalie

Cosco makes the cheapest stroller on the market. It costs $20, only weighs 8 lbs and will certainly get the job done for using around the airport!
