Hi Jennie, do you have a favorite "clean" shampoo and conditioner for kids? A shampoo that doubles as a body wash would be great! Thanks!
Hi Jennie, my 6 month old daughter has had cradle cap for a couple of months now. It's not very scaly and even when I mentioned it to my daughter's doctor, she wasn't worried. You can't really notice it at all when we are inside. It's only when we are outside and it's sunny that you can see the yellowish patches. Is there something I can put on her to help this go away? Also, we will be traveling to FL in November and she's finally old enough to use sunblock. Is there a special one you'd recommend for her age group and being that it's her first time using it? Thanks!
Hi Stephanie. Happy to help. Okay, I would stay with something super gentle and good for hydrating the area. Try a calendula balm (Indie Lee makes an eye balm, but you could use it on your daughters little head too!). Or, try CV skinlabs-- actually this might be my first pick. It's fragrance-free, super gentle and very calming. There is a body lotion, spray and a balm. For sun care, go with Suntegrity. It rates a perfect score on EWG (Environmental Working Group) meaning it's 100% non-toxic. They have a collection for infants.
Such great feedback! Thank you so much for your help!

I saw the question about shampoo for kids, but I'm super curious if you have recommendations for adults. I have used some expensive hair products in the past, but they are definitely not natural. It's funny because when it comes to my kids, I only use products, but I don't think as much about it for myself. Thank you
Kasey, I bet so many Moms do that same thing. It's easy to forget about taking care of yourself. Great question and I have an answer for you. I just tried a brands called Innersense and loved it. It's a great "clean" line and relatively affordable too. I also use Captain Blankenship Dry Shampoo. (And heard One Love also makes a good one!). ;-)
Hi Jennie, one more for you! Do you have any recommendations for anti-aging face and eye creams?
Susan! I have so many here, it's hard to pick. Skincare is my favorite. Since turning 40, I have been focusing more on my skincare than makeup. A few top picks for me are: Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream and Repairative Moisturizer. I also love everything from Indie Lee. The best anti-aging serum is hands down, Maya Chia The Super Couple! SO good. Chia seed (65x more powerful than using Vit C).
Hi Jennie! Do you have a recommendation for an antiperspirant or deodorant that works well? I've tried Tom's, Weleda, and Honest and don't love any of those. Thank you!
Ah Susan! I must have tried 10 different all natural deodorants before finding one I liked....well, one that worked! A few things to make note of when switching to a natural deodorant. 1.) The body takes about 4-6 weeks to detox from using an aluminum based product. 2.) This often results in a "get worse before it gets better" type of situation. 3.) A lot of natural deodorants have baking soda in them, which even though it's a natural ingredient, it does cause irritation on some sensitive skin types. My top 3 choices for an effective, all-natural deodorant are: 1.) Agent Natuer 2.) Kaia Natural (Takesumi Detox) 3.) Source Vital Deozein. You have to keep me posted on which one you like. And, be sure to give it at least 4 weeks before you throw in the towel! ;-)
Hi Jennie! I am trying to find more natural products to use on my face. In particular my foundation and bronzer... do you have a great line that you recommend? I use Jane Iredale now but I am running out and I am not even sure how great that line is for my skin.
Hey Becky! I like Jane Iredale, she's been a real pioneer in the natural beauty world but I'm not completely aware of all the ingredients in her products. Have you tried Lily Lolo? It's a great "clean beauty" brand. I love the Miami Beach Bronzer. For Foundation, some of my favorites include Ilia, RMS, Fit Glow and Vapour.
Awesome!! I haven't heard of them but I will look into these. Thank you!
Hello, I have a soon to be 7 month old and he loves to be outside but these mosquitos make it very difficult to even enjoy the great outdoors and not to mention dangerous diseases they carry. What mosquito repellent would you recommend?
Captain Blankenship makes an excellent all-natural bug repellent. You can also make your own using essential oils (best to apply on clothing rather than directly on skin) using distilled water (or carrier oil) and a choice or blend of: lemongrass, tea tree, citronella, clove and cedar essential oils. I have read great reviews on this one for kids, it's called Plant Therapy, Kid Safe "Shield Me" -you can find it on Amazon.
Do you have a "top 10" list of what should be avoided while pregnant or nursing? Any companies you can recommend that always avoid those?
Hi Sarah! I sure do! You can sign up to get my "Come Clean Guide" on my website-www.jenniefresa.com. It's free when you sign up for our newsletter. But here are a few to keep on your radar: Parabens, PetroChemicals, Sulfates, Fragrance, PEG's, Triclosan, Coal Tar and Formaldehyde (found in most mascaras!) Ewww! P
I have a list of favorite companies on there too! A few off the top of my head are RMS, Ilia, Lili Lolo, Fit Glow, Saint, Vapour, Nu Cosmetics and Alima Pure. (so many great up and coming Indie brands to keep an eye on!)
Best foundation for acne-prone skin! (While pregnant!)
Hi Brianne! Great question. Hormones are a funny thing, especially when pregnant. You really want to take a close look at ingredients because a lot of foundations have harmful chemicals in them that affect our reproductive systems. Definitely stay away from anything with parabens. I suggest Ilia Foundation - it's great for oily an skin type skin because it has a nice matte finish, good coverage (but feels light weight). I also like RMS Un-Cover Powders for acne-prone skin.
Hi Paula! Try Zoe Organics. Such a wonderful skincare line (with body wash) that's great for kids. I also like Dr. Bronner for an all-purpose.
I also like Acure, you can find it at Food Works or Whole Foods.
Thank you!
