I'm heading back to work in January and need to start pumping more regularly. What kind of pump should I buy?

I would go with a double electric. Have you checked with your insurance company? Most plans (a few grandfathered exceptions) supply new mamas with a breast pump! |
Hi!Is it safe to eat bitter gourd for breastfeeding moms?

There is not a lot of data (if any) on impact of bitter gourd on breastfeeding moms. For this reason, I would recommend a breastfeeding mama consult an herbalist and/or your physician before starting to take this herbal supplement (or any) . |
My little only wants to feed at night, and I'm exhausted! Any words of advice and/or encouragement??

Hi Kanti - This is really normal for new babes! I know it’s exhausting...hang in there. It gets easier! Be sure to wake baby to feed at least every 3 hours during the day. This helps set a “schedule” and hopefully help babe differentiate Day from night. Also...During the day you can feed baby with lights on, lots of talking and noise etc. At night, set a different tone - feed baby with the lights dim and low voices etc.

I have been pumping once a day to start saving but I’m not longer able to pump as much as I could before is my milk supply getting low and how Can I increase it? My baby is only a month old and only drinks breast milk he can down 4oz like it’s nothing and the past two days I’m only able to pump about 2 1/2oz Within 45 minuets. I’m very concerned.

Hi, Brittany -- |
I’m in pain most of the time whenever I breastfeed my baby or so uncomfortable. And I really want to only breastfeed but sometimes I feel like giving up because of the pain I can’t take too long breastfeeding. The only thing that’s keeping my nipples from cracking and bleeding like the first week is coconut oil! My baby is almost 3 weeks old. I don’t know how to fix his latch. Please help!!!
Does it make sense that my left breast doesn't produce one drop when I'm pumping, but I can express milk manually? I just changed the falanges to the larger size, but nothing has changed. I had a breast reduction 20yrs ago and I'm just trying to get any little bit I can. Thank you.

Yes - that makes sense/normal because they pump works differently than baby sucking and differently from hand expression. In order to maximize production, I would recommend doing both! Begin with electric pump and end with the hand expression. Check out this great instructional video by Dr Jane Morton for more information about this strategy. And - if you are strapped for time, do the hand expression only (the more frequently the better!): https://med.stanford.edu/newborns/professional-education/breastfeeding/maximizing-milk-production.html |
