Motherless Mothers Support Groups and Individual Therapy

  1. Motherless Mothers Group:
A group for mothers of young children who have experienced their own maternal loss

Becoming a mother and mothering in the early years is a powerful and intense experience for all women. For women who have experienced the loss of their own mothers, becoming a mother can trigger feelings of isolation, loss, anger, and uncertainty, and cause stress in family relationships. This group provides an opportunity for women to share their experiences and learn from one another as they move forward in experiencing the joys and challenges of mothering without their own.

    • Therapeutic support group: Members derive support from others with a shared experience and address issues they are dealing with in their everyday lives.

    • Operates in 12-week cycles: Group members commit to a 12-week cycle and at the end of a cycle can either move on from the group or opt to stay for another cycle.

    • Meets weekly in West Newton. Exact time and dates TBD.

    • If you are interested in participating or would like more information about the group, please call the group leader, Michelle Acker, directly at 617-548-8285 or email at michelle.acker1@gmail.com.

Michelle Acker is a clinical psychologist whose practice focuses on maternal and family well-being, parenting and loss.
