We are going to be in the market for a few new convertible car seats in the near future as our youngest transitions into one and we get a second car. I'm wondering if all seats are generally equally safe given they have to pass the same safety tests? Or are some really better than others? They can be so expensive! What are your favorite safe seats when they will be moving between two cars (likely an SUV and a sedan). Thank you.

How do I know when it's time to move my baby from the infant car seat to a convertible seat? She is 10 months and getting pretty heavy to lug around. We have a Britax B safe carseat. Also, we already got a convertible car seat but I am now realizing that I'm not sure what I'm going to do since we use two cars interchangeably depending on who is at work when... Right now we have two car seat bases but I'm not sure what to do once we switch to convertible car seat? Is that something easy enough to move around from car to car? Any advice? Would it be crazy to try to hold out and use the infant car seat until baby is a year old? Sorry for all the silly questions! Thanks!
